House Extension & Internal Alterations in Roundhay – Case Study
Brief: Provide Architectural Services in Roundhay designing a New porch, ground floor extension changing a single garage to a double, new utility & shower room to the rear and Internal alterations including reconfiguration of the existing staircase.
HB Architectural Services were delighted to complete this extension for our clients in Roundhay. Whilst the project consisted of lots of small changes, the collective overall impact of these has considerably improved the external appearance of the dwelling and the internal functionality.
The new porch and reconfiguration of the staircase makes for a much more welcoming entrance to the dwelling, whilst freeing up space to create an open plan kitchen dining area.
The introduction of velux roof windows and sun tunnels to the rear part of the extension brings natural light to the utility and shower room area in an otherwise ‘trapped’ area in plan. The existing large room to the rear has been subdivided into 2 separate rooms with bi-fold doors for multifunctional use as one larger or two smaller spaces.
The project was completed in two phases in order to reduce the impact on everyday living.
